Head and neck cancer is one of the many cancers that people suffer from in the modern world. According to statistics done in the US these conditions are said to be twice as common in men as in women. Other than gender another factor that one must consider is the age, based on the same statistics done in the years. You check this site to know more about head and neck cancer.

This illness has been proven to be common among people aged 50 and above. The big question being, what is the survival rate of people living with head and neck cancer?  Head and neck cancer survival rate

Based on research done in Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) and collected by the National Cancer Data Base, on patients rate of survival was encouraging on various stages

Stage one

According to the Stage, one patient receiving treatment from SCCA showed a survival rate of 76 %while the patients receiving treatment from other health centers exhibited 77% survival rates. This information is based on all the patients who received full treatment of stage one of head and neck cancer from various centers

Stage Two

In stage two of head and neck cancer, the survival rate of patients attending to SCCA rose up to 86%while the patients attending to other health centers dropped to 61%. The reason for this has not been well justified.

Head And Neck Cancer Survival Rate

Stage Three

The same case applies as stage two, but this time both percentages drop down. The survival of SCCA drops down to 64 %from the time of the first diagnosis

Stage Four

As the stage progresses the rate of survival decreases. Based on the research SCCA patients 47%percent while the patients from other health centers came up to be 41% percent.

From the data collected, it is evident that as the stage progressed the rate of survival decreases as well. However, the data above has not been statistically validated it is based on research done by the National Cancer Data Base between 2003 and 2006.

National Cancer Data Base as a body has been collecting cancer registries since 1989. Their investigation is based on more than 30 cases for better analysis and doesn’t account for demographic and stage difference, only analysis.
